Thus, I'm not sure how I feel about its design, because I've used it so rarely, and then I took it more just for the prophecy or to sell it. If you're doing a Dio cast build, you don't want to get hangover all that much you want to get cores from other gods to set up the relevant duos (Demeter for Ice Wine, Poseidon and Artemis if possible for Mirage Shot). If you're doing a hangover build, you probably want to take something like Bad Influence or Numbing Sensation rather than Trippy Shot. this one is just horrendous.īlack Out is one of the hardest boons to get in my opinion. If you only have Drunken Dash, it is a very slight positive, but since that's a pretty bad boon. If you have any source of hangover besides Drunken Dash that you use, never take this boon.
The majority of the time, it does absolutely nothing, and when it does do something, it tends to be negative. Peer Pressure is, in my opinion, a contender for the worst boon in the game. When speedrunning, I take it over any of the tier 1s besides Strong Drink, though for high heat (or if you're just trying to complete a run), it's much better. Numbing Sensation is the sort of boon that is undeniably helpful, but is still low priority for me. Bad Influence is really solid if you have a hangover build it's a very high priority boon in that case. High Tolerance is an option if you're using Dio cast on a non-cast build, but since I rarely do that, I'm not sure how strong it is there. Positive Outlook is the worst in my opinion, though the damage resistance does scale very well with rarity, so it might be worth taking at epic.

Getting a fair amount of health plus a nectar is a pretty good deal imo. Premium Vintage is fantastic, even though you rarely get it to activate more than once in a run. After Party is similarly fantastic at high heat, but most notably if you use Stubborn Defiance and beefed up normal encounters. Strong Drink is fantastic if you get it early enough, both for the global damage and the increase in fountain healing (if you run Lasting Consequences, which I do). He has a lot of strong, supportive tier 1 boons. If you're going for speed, I still prefer any lodging cast, because the Boiling Blood bonus, especially on bosses, is too much to ignore. At the end of the day, I think it's a very strong support cast if your goal is to complete your run, and nothing more. It doesn't lodge so you don't get the Boiling Blood bonus from the mirror, but it does frequently stun enemies, making attacking them much safer. It has the highest base damage of any cast, but it has a lengthy lobbing animation that makes it a pain to deal with (more so on controller than mouse and keyboard). Outside of cast-focused builds, where it can be good with the right support (hidden shield, Ice Wine), it has a bit of an unclear spot as a support cast. It also means you don't want to use hangover on attack or special while the call is active, as those lower damage stacks would override the higher damage stacks from the call. This is part of why Peer Pressure is so bad, and why you never want Drunken Dash if you have hangover on anything else. One very important thing to note (thanks to u/tim_lamisters for bringing it up) is that any hangover stack will override the oldest one, regardless of the damage on the stack. Overall, it does very good dps, and if you're not looking for invulnerability, I'd only say Zeus is better because of its better room-clear potential. I previously stated that I think very highly of Dio call in the Calls Chthonic Conversation from a while ago, and this is still true. Dash is definitely an interesting concept you can definitely make it work, but personally I think it's one of the worst dashes. With fast attack sources, like rail or fist attack or bow special, Dionysus is really quite strong. Dionysus has the hangover effect instead, which is both good and bad.
